Antenatal Care & Education

Birth Preparation

Birth preparation is aimed at giving you the best chances of having the birth experience you envision, while also recognizing that birth is unpredictable.
I provide education, information and tools to help you prepare for the arrival of your baby. Our sessions can help you understand yourself in a deeper way and make choices that are right for you. I will support you in planning and forming your birth vision and wishes. I also aim to help you feel equipped to navigate the unknown inherent in birth and life. I want you to feel supported and loved along the way, whatever happens.

Birth preparation is not about promising how your birth will unfold or promising I can make all your dreams come true. It’s about helping you create the best environment and support for your vision, and holding the essence of this vision if something takes a different course.

Antenatal Visits

Antenatal visits generally take place in the comfort of your home unless requested otherwise.
We will cover any topics of your choice that will help you feel confident and excited about your upcoming birth. For example:
Birth education (evidence-based information as well as practicalities)
Explore options for birth plans/wishes
Navigating the current maternity care system
Comfort measures
Birth biomechanics
The birth partner’s role
Preparation for the postpartum period, creating your postnatal sanctuary and breastfeeding education.
Bodywork, osteopathy, massage, therapeutic touch.

Birth Support

I will be on call for you 24/7 from 10 days before your due date, until your baby is born. Doula Packages also include ongoing WhatsApp and email support during our time of working together.

During labour and birth

When you’ve called me to attend your birth, I will provide emotional, physical and practical support, including comfort measures during labour and birth, tailored to your needs and wishes. After your baby is born, I will stay with you for the first golden hours to support you in establishing feeding and leave you when you are ready to have quiet and restful first hours with your newborn.

Postpartum Care

Postpartum support and visits will look different for each family, depending on their existing support network and individual needs. The aim is that you feel loved and supported emotionally and practically, so you can really bathe in the preciousness of the experience. Examples of ways I can support you postnatally:
‣ Birth debrief – this can be a process or ongoing conversation
‣ Breastfeeding support
‣ Space to ask questions and build confidence
Bodywork, therapeutic touch, osteopathy, massage
‣ Cranial osteopathy for your baby
‣ Caring for your baby whilst you nap/shower/bathe/have time for yourself
‣ Support with any appointments that you may need to attend
‣ Support with household tasks or cooking

My Approach

Over the last decade I have dedicated my time to supporting women and families perinatally as a (cranial) osteopath, birth and postnatal doula, student midwife, antenatal educator and breastfeeding supporter.

I strive to blend the ancient wisdom surrounding childbirth with modern scientific knowledge.

I deeply understand and respect the body and its physiological processes, from everyday functions to the incredible adaptations that occur during pregnancy, birth, and beyond. I love helping you understand how amazing your body is and what it needs to thrive, as well as providing hands-on treatments and comfort measures.

During the pandemic, I attended the first year of NHS midwifery training. This experience deepened my understanding of the current maternity care landscape, highlighting what you need from me as a doula.

Whilst I believe you are inherently capable and ready to birth your baby and parent your new baby, there are often factors that help or hinder a smooth pregnancy, birth and postpartum period. I’m here to help you understand those factors and navigate the challenges, and put the right support in place for you & your family.

Some examples of ways I can support you:

‣ Bespoke antenatal education to help you understand what your body is going through and what to expect along the way regardless of where you choose to
‣ Nuanced information to help you make informed decisions about your birth choices and care.
‣ Space for reflection and exploring your beliefs, hopes and fears about pregnancy, childbirth, parenting etc.
‣ Personalised care that respects you as an individual and doesn’t treat you as just another number.
‣ A confident and calm companion who gets to know you well and can provide emotional and physical support and comfort measures for a smooth and powerful experience. And/or support your partner to be that person and take turns when breaks are needed.
‣ An advocate to ensure your voice is heard in your most vulnerable moments.
‣ Offer bodywork and massage for the whole family.

I am here for you, offering loving and empowering support as you transition from pregnancy into birth and parenthood.
