Cranial Osteopathy

For Babies and Children

Cranial Osteopathy is a gentle approach to treating babies and children.

Supportive treatment or correction of strains can help your child express their full potential as they grow and develop.

This holistic, gentle and non-invasive approach is designed to support the natural healing processes of the body, promoting optimal health and well-being in the early stages of life.

Does my child need treatment?

There is no definite list of the sort of symptoms or conditions that may respond to treatment. If you would like to discuss your child’s individual health care needs with me or are unsure whether osteopathic treatment could be helpful to your child and how, please contact me.

The following signs and symptoms may indicate the need for treatment:

The First Appointment and what to expect

The first appointment will involve taking a case history, assessment and if appropriate, treatment. I will ask about the pregnancy, birth, and parents’ general health.
Although cranial osteopathy does not hurt, from approximately 6 months of age, children are less likely to want to keep still, so it is a good idea to bring in toys (not electronic screens) for distraction, or for older children, to read to them. However, it is possible to treat children sitting or playing. I’ll work around your child’s needs.

It’s not unusual for your child to feel a bit ‘out of sorts’ or even sleepy after a treatment. This is a normal reaction as the body is continuing to make adjustments and is a short term feeling, so please don’t be concerned by this.
